Presented by New Latin Wave
New Latin Wave marks its 10th anniversary with a conversation bringing together leading contemporary scholars, curators, writers, and cultural strategists whose work has helped shape and expand the field of Latine art history over the past several decades, to consider not only what and who are visible now, but how visibility is produced, and how today’s interventions are actively reshaping the canon for the future.
The conversation is framed through two landmark recent publications: A Handbook of Latinx Artedited by Rocío Aranda-Alvarado and Deborah Cullen-Morales and Nuyorican and Diasporican Visual Art: A Critical Anthology, edited by Yasmin Ramirez and Arlene Dávila, alongside Historias, a new citywide initiative developed by Libertad Guerra and The Clemente Center that reimagines how Latine histories are told, held, and shared across New York City.
Featuring Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, Yasmin Ramirez, and Libertad Guerra (Executive Director, The Clemente Center). Moderated by Alexis Mendoza (Executive Director, New York Latin American Art Triennial).
